About HASR

History

HASR was founded in 1989 by the Social Services committee of Leadership Richardson, led by Dot McCalpin, to be a coalition of social service agencies and supporters of social services who serve in the Richardson Independent School District geographic area. Over the years, it has served as a place where social service agencies can gather to share best practices, network, celebrate and learn.
In 2018, HASR embarked on developing a strategic plan, which widened membership opportunities to any nonprofit helping group serving the City of Richardson and/or the Richardson Independent School District geographic area that holds 501(c)(3) tax status as defined by IRS. HASR is also a 501(c)(3) organization, governed by its member organizations.
